What a fantastic Christmas present! Cypress has had a successful breeding with this stunning male, and we are eager to welcome the puppies sired by Hoekema Homestead Goldens Tonka! While we must wait a few weeks to confirm pregnancy, the breeding was executed perfectly! We anticipate the puppies to arrive by the end of February and be ready for their forever homes by the end of April. We are ecstatic about this development and feel fortunate to have returned home in time for Christmas! It was a little close as I was not able to leave W Washington until Christmas eve am but we made it in time to have a lovely dinner with my Dad, brother, daughter and grandkids. One of the hard parts about breeding is never knowing for certain when the female is 100% ready and then the ability to have her be with the male at the exact right moment. We watch their behavior, count the days, do progesterone tests on the female but it's still up to mother nature and It is a beautiful thing to witness! Tonka and Cypress executed a beautiful dance so now we wait
Next step will be to confirm pregnancy with an ultrasound in a few weeks. We should also have a good estimate of how many pups Cypress is carrying at that point. The hope is for 7-10 puppies in this litter! Birth will be 63 days from conception so end of February. Obviously we can't guarantee how many puppies or the gender until they arrive on the other side!
Momma gets handled now with yummy food, good exercise, and lots of belly rubs. She has proven to be an excellent attentive and capable mother with all her previous babies thriving.

You can look forward to more regular updates as we progress, there are still spots open on the reservation list for this litter. We will use the order of deposits in as one of the qualifiers for assigning puppies. Many things come into consideration, the puppies personality and the needs of the family, the health of the puppy, their intended purpose (breeder, therapy) etc. It's a bit of a complicated process and one that gets weeks of serious consideration and communication with the families.
