Oh, the places we will GROW!

It just keeps getting cuter and cuter! My little valentines are getting so big and they are so smart! This is such a fun litter to raise I am over the moon with these babies......and so in danger of keeping one. People alway ask me if I have a hard time sending them to their furever homes at 8 weeks. I say NO, by that time I am so over cleaning, cleaning, cleaning and the Poo! BUT, I am falling in love here......it's a problem! Seriously, what is not to love!

They are still sleeping a large part of the time, puppies do that for a long time, even after they go home......up to 18 hours a day. Just like human babies, napping is critical and should not be disturbed. The good news is (or maybe bad) they grow while they sleep. I used to think all the twitching that goes on while they are asleep was dreaming.....of what exactly I couldn't tell you since their world is pretty small. Turns out twitching is growing and grow they do, by the hour!

We had lots of firsts this week, one of the biggest was bath time! We slowly introduce them to the water running, then sitting in a very shallow amount in the bottom of the sink working our way up to getting the body wet, applying baby shampoo, rinse, towel dry and a big long hug! They all were so chill and accepting. It was an extremely pleasant experience for all of us. And they smelled so good!!!!

Last week I talked about weighing them and then administering dewormer prevention meds. We did it again this week but I had to modify the scale holder cause they were too big!! Another round of meds, nail trims, weights recorded and off for a nap.

Ran into the same issue with the holding basket. Initially I used a laundry basket to hold them all while I cleaned the pen, but now I had to go bigger! Good ole Costco had this great wheeled cart that I intended to use to take them for walks, to the vet, etc but it found a new use this morning, a holding basket for cleaning time and it worked great! Momma Cypress had a very watchful eye on this activity since the cart had wheels.....She was not real sure where I was going with this but as usual, she trusts me. Such a good Momma, I am so blessed and love the relationship we have with Cypress.

We had our first visitors, they were as usual, super accepting of new handlers, smells, hugs and tugs! We do still have to adhere to safety protocols so visitors need to arrive in clean clothing, remove shoes and wash hands or use sanitizer before handling. We love the exposure for them and the visitors were all smiles too!

Notice how great the puppies are behaving. No jumping, biting, just loving getting pets. Hopefully we can keep this behavior in check!

They are using potty trays like champs and eating kibble 3 times a day now. More work, more reward, more growth, more learning. It's a good life for all of us!!
