As we start into week 6, the fun for me really begins. I am completely blown away at how much these little babes can learn before 8 weeks! Don't worry, there is still much to be done when you get your puppy home but I can expose them to so much that really sets them on the right course to becoming the dog everyone loves. They have mastered the potty trays (thankfully) and have a great handle on sitting nicely to be picked up when I enter the room or pick them up from the play area.

This week was full of new adventures as is every week around here! We started car rides one a time in the front seat where I could touch them and talk to them.
Then we graduated to 4 at a time in the crate in the back of the SUV. A little crying at first but not bad. Turns out Rose likes to howl like her momma. Only one vomit which is not unusual getting used to this new motion. And learning the crate is not a bad thing.

We started learning about baths in the kitchen sink but now we have graduated to the big wash tub in the grooming room. This is where the adults get their baths too! We still went slowly, letting them explore and get used to the new space. Thank you Marty for building this great tub so I don't have to bend over and they can shake all that water around the room! After the tub everyone had their nails trimmed, teeth cleaned, ears wiped and towel dried.

Puppies didn't need to be brushed but boy or boy Mom did! The grooming table is one of our best investments! In inclement weather we set it up in the grooming room but on these nice spring days we just move outside! Cypress and Magnolia both love to be groomed and willingly climb up for their turn to be beautified! We use the stairs from the hot tub for easy access. Goldens do shed but regular brushing will definitely help save your vacuum.

This was a fun outdoor adventure! There was a little attempt to look over the edge but no one tried to escape! It was a 2 human adventure to make sure no one self deployed.
Puppies come running now when I call Puppy, puppy, puppy and we have started learning down and spin to add to our sit command. We work in the play area so it's all related to fun games. Their little sponge brains love any and all interaction with humans now. I give them a command, show them what I want, a piece of kibble for a treat and mark the success with a yes! Continue this with everything, we love to hear YES!!!

Crate introduction......this was insanely easy to get started. I put the crates in their toddler area and wired the doors open. Scattered a couple pieces of kibble in them and a snuggle buddy. Next thing I know, they are all piling in the crates! Next step will be to close the doors for a nap with one puppy per crate. I loved they how they took to this safe space so readily.

Highlight of the week was meeting KIDS! This just warms my heart! Equal parts kids and puppy smiles.

Watching and waiting for Magnolia to start her heat cycle so we can get another round of all this golden glory started for more families. She will be bred with Hoekema Homestead Goldens Tonka Time.
